Designer

  • Hans Bellmann

Tripod low stool designed by Hans Bellmann in the 1950s for Swiss manufacturer Horgen Glarus.

Made of molded birch plywood, this understated, stackable model belongs to the postwar Swiss functionalist tradition. The L-shaped bent legs and circular seat reflect the influence of Scandinavian furniture, particularly that of Alvar Aalto, while asserting Bellmann's own structural vocabulary: clarity of form, material economy, and rational use of technique.

Manufacturer: Horgen Glarus, circa 1950, distributed by Wohnbedarf.
