Designer
"All wood" chair designed by Jean Prouvé in 1941 for the domestic market, produced between 1942 and 1947 by the Atelier Jean Prouvé and the Vauconsant workshops.
It features a rear leg shaped like an airplane wing, a seat and backrest in plywood veneered with oak, and two front legs joined by a high stretcher with visible tenons. Entirely made of wood, this model reflects Prouvé's wartime innovations, replacing scarce metal with refined woodworking techniques.
The chair was later painted blue, and now shows a beautiful aged patina revealing both the paint remnants and the original oak grain beneath.
Design: 1941.
Production: Atelier Jean Prouvé and Établissements Vauconsant, 1942-1947.
