Ceramicist
Trained at the École des Arts Décoratifs, Mado Jolain established her studio in Montrouge in the 1950s, where she worked closely with her husband René Legrand. He designed the metal structures for their collaborative works, blending functional construction with a free and expressive ceramic language.
This rare side table is a striking example. The minimalist black lacquered metal base supports a removable top composed of orange-toned glazed stoneware tiles. The composition reflects Jolain's distinctive visual identity: geometric balance, tactile surfaces, and solar tones.
An iconic piece from Atelier Jolain, where postwar ceramic experimentation met modern decorative design.
