Hydra Floor Lamp by Pierre Folie for Jacques Charpentier, Early 70s

REF: 7113

Hydra floor lamp, designed by Pierre Folie and produced by Jacques Charpentier in France in the early 1970s.
This sculptural light fixture stands on a square base and features five articulated arms ending in half-sphere reflectors, all crafted from chromed steel. Thanks to their flexibility, the arms can be positioned in multiple configurations, allowing the light to be directed as needed and transforming the lamp into a true luminous sculpture.

Pierre Folie, a self-taught designer born in 1938, first gained recognition for his innovative furniture and objects in stainless steel. His work, exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs in 1969, caught the attention of publisher Jacques Charpentier. He went on to found his own design studio, Mobia, and in 1973 took part in the creation of the MOB 6 collective, alongside notable designers such as Andrée Putman and Michel Boyer.
