Robert Lienhard

Robert Lienhard (1919 - 1989)

Robert Liehnard studied at the Brera Academy in Milan (1936-1940), with Remo Rossi in Locarno (1942) and with Max Weber in Geneva (1943).

From the mid-1950s, he carried out numerous commissions for large sculptures for public spaces (Expo 64 in Lausanne, Andelfingen, Dübendorf, Hochfelden, Kreuzlingen, Winterthur, Zurich). He was showcased in Switzerlandin personal exhibitions at the Museum of Fine Arts in Winterthur (1951, 1970, 1981) and abroad.

He was an eminent representative of non-figurative sculpture, which he worked preferably in bronze, aluminum, wood and stone. During his last years, he made more and more watercolors and drawings. He was awarded a Federal Fine Arts Fellowship (1943, 1944 and 1951), was honored by the Canton of Zurich (1964) and the City of Winterthur (1969) and received the Prize for Fine Arts from the Carl-Heinrich Ernst Foundation in Winterthur (1972).
