Eero Saarinen

Eero Saarinen (1910 - 1961)

Born in Finland and rocked by the art world since his earliest childhood, Saarinen went to the United States to study architecture. Two encounters marked his career start, those of Charles Eames and Florence Knoll. From this early collaboration with Eames was born the Womb Chair (1940 - Edited by Knoll in 1948), a modernist and comfortable seat. Knoll will multiply collaborations with him, and remains today the sole editor of Saarinen furniture. The Saarinen Table, the Tulip Chair (1956), with their unique organic-shaped legs are still icons of industrial design today.
