Douglas Swan est un peintre américain né en 1930. Il s'immerge dans l'art au Dundee College of Art en Ecosse, puis à Londres. Plus tard, il découvre avec grand intérêt la scène italienne de l'art contemporain à travers des artistes tels Lucio Fontana, Enrico Castellani et Roberto Crippa. Installé en Suisse dans les années 1960, il devient une figure importante du XXe siècle, et expose régulièrement.

L'oeuvre présentée est représentative du travail de l'artiste dans les années 1970, tel qu'exposé à la galerie Reckermann de Cologne en 1972.

Douglas Swan is an American painter born in 1930. He immersed himself in art at the Dundee College of Art in Scotland and later in London. Subsequently, he developed a keen interest in the Italian contemporary art scene, exploring the works of artists like Lucio Fontana, Enrico Castellani, and Roberto Crippa. Settling in Switzerland in the 1960s, he became a significant figure of the 20th century, exhibiting regularly.

The presented artwork is representative of the artist's work in the 1970s, as showcased at the Reckermann Gallery in Cologne in 1972.
