Vase by Les Argonautes, the French ceramic duo of Isabelle Ferlay and Frédérique Bourguet, active in the 1960s in Vallauris, a celebrated center of modern ceramics.
Inspired by the shape of an ocean liner, this piece is crafted from chamotte clay and finished with an enamel glaze. Its intricate and imaginative decoration features stylized motifs such as sails, figures, and abstract patterns, inviting interpretation and evoking a sense of wonder. The earthy color palette-rich browns, deep greens, and warm ochres-adds to the piece's organic and timeless aesthetic.
Signed in relief under the base, "Les Argonautes, Vallauris."
